Instructional Designer

Part-time

Location: Remote
Hours: Part-time, minimum 10 hrs per week, maximum 20 hrs per week
Compensation: $32-$42/hr, depending on experience

Role Overview

Collaborate as a team member to design and develop engaging, effective learning experiences. This role supports the full instructional design lifecycle—from analysis through evaluation—creating a variety of learning experiences for a variety of clients. Your work will differ depending on project and client, but could include developing instructor-led training, video development, e-learning products, and more. The ideal candidate is experienced with Articulate 360, highly organized, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams. As a remote company, successful employees will be self-motivated, communicative, and committed to turning in high quality work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze learning needs, target audiences, and performance gaps
  • Design learning solutions including course outlines, instructional strategies, and assessment plans
  • Write clear, measurable learning objectives aligned to program or client goals
  • Apply adult learning theory and instructional design best practices
  • Develop storyboards, scripts, and course content for e-learning and instructor-led formats
  • Build engaging, interactive learning experiences using Articulate (Storyline and/or Rise)
  • Accept and incorporate stakeholder and peer feedback through iterative design and review cycles
  • Develop supporting materials such as instructor guides, participant handouts, and job aids

Additional Responsibilities

  • Create and manage project schedules and timelines
  • Collaborate with e-learning developers, graphic designers, editors, and program managers
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of curriculum and design standards
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience using Articulate Storyline and/or Articulate Rise
  •  Availability to work at least 10 hours per week on an ongoing basis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet and manage deadlines and work collaboratively with diverse and remote teams
  • Openness to learning new skills and software
  • U.S. citizen or legal U.S. work status


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with additional course development tools
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud software (Adobe Premiere, InDesign, Photoshop, etc. ) and other animation or design tools (Canva, Vyond, Figma, etc.)
  • Project management experience or certification
  • Copyediting and visual design skills
Schedule

This is a 10-20-hour per week role. We’ll work together after hiring to set hours that feel sustainable and supportive. While there’s flexibility in when you work, most hours should overlap with East Coast business hours (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET) to maximize connection and collaboration.
